Grand Opening of Spring Hill Suites by Marriott/Hemophiliac Fundraiser - All American Woman 2009 - March 12, 2009

An amazing young woman, Cori Kopitar-Magnotta, invited myself and a bunch of titleholders to the grand opening of the Spring Hill Suites by Marriott in Windsor. It was also a benefit for H.O.P.E. - an organization dedicated to matching parents of newly diagnosed hemophiliac children with other parents. The event raised over $2,000 that day! Congratulations to Cori for making it a great event!
Myself, Cori and Miss Teen America.
Miss North Haven America; Mrs. CT United States, Lynette Piombo and me.
I had the pleasure of meeting one of the leading Doctors at Yale (she is a specialist with hemophilia) and one of the Hemophiliac Foundation members.
Some of the Miss America preliminary titleholders.
One of the fun events that day was "find the special guest." Cori set it up so there were different queens located in areas of the hotel. If visitors went to these areas and got an autograph and came back to the front desk - the got a free night stay! Miss North Haven was in one of the guest suites! When it came time for the ribbon cutting ceremony, Cori gathered us around and the hotel manager spoke about her nephew - who was an inspiration for the event. One of the Selectmen was also on hand for the event.
This little lady took it upon herself to walk her neighborhood collecting money for H.O.P.E. What an inspiration!

Then, Stacy and I celebrated my birthday with food at California Pizza Kitchen and a little casino fun!

TFTJ Polls Are In! - March 4, 2009

OH MY GOODNESS! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I was just voted Best Woman Fashion Wear for 2008 as well as Best Woman Evening Gown for 2008 in the annual TFTJ (Turn For The Judges) online poll! I am so excited! Thank you so much to everyone that voted for me! A very special thanks to Natalie Testa, owner of Ragtime Boutique in Watertown! Natalie, not only are you the official wardrobe sponsor of the Miss Connecticut America program, but you are quickly becoming THE wardrober for all of Connecticut! Thanks also to Sherri Kiazim, seamstress at Ragtime for always tweaking me into fabulosity! ;-)

I am also very pleased that the All American ladies did so well in all of the categories! Congratulations to everyone! See the online results pictured here!

Ode To Cookies! - March 4, 2009

Why do the Girl Scouts darken my door?
One box, two box, three box, four!

Really cute and all dressed in green,
At this rate, I’ll never be the Queen.

Swimsuit ready I just won’t be,
Because these boxes are in front of me!

Samoas and Thin Mints taste just right,
My evening gown now a smidge too tight!

Please earn your badge at someone else’s door,
Because I just can’t possibly eat any more!

Good Morning America - February 16, 2009

On Monday, February 16th, Michele Sharpe, Mrs. NHUS 2008, and I joined Stacy Perrone-Petta, Miss CT America 1996 and her Waterbury & Wolcott Outstanding Teen gals on the trip to NYC to appear on Good Morning America! We had to leave Connecticut at 4:30AM so we could stand in line by 6:00AM. Neither Michele, Stacy or I slept last night! This is going to be an interesting day!
It was FREEZING standing outside early in the morning!

Here are some shots of us in the studio.

Move over Sam Champion!

With Sandra Ribiero, former Miss PA All American!

Cameron Mathison (All My Children/Dancing With The Stars) was there on special assignment and came down to the studio to meet everyone. I wish I'd had a chance to thank him for referring me to our acting coach many years before. (see July, 2000)

Appearing on the show today was the famous basketball hero from Massachusetts, Jason McElwain.

Here are some in studio shots during the show.

After the show was over, we got to meet Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts.

While waiting for our turn to tour the studio, we are very happy to meet with the Girl Scout Troops that were there.

After the show, we got to tour the ABC GMA studio.
After the tour of the studio, Michele and I headed outside into Times Square for a couple of fun photos. After I took her photo with the sign, I started laughing and said I would hold it up and be Mrs. NH too! We then walked in the freezing cold (yeah, we're nuts) about 10 blocks over to Rockefeller Center to see the NBC Morning Show to stand behind Kathie Lee and Hoda only to find out they were off for the day! Argh! So we took a couple of shots anyway.
I love the flags all around the Rockefeller Center skating rink. We also took a couple of photos with some children. They were so excited to meet us!
We walked around the side of the building only to see the two young stars of the Nickelodeon movie, "Spectacular" coming out of the building. They are Nolan Gerard Funk and Tammin Sursok (she also stars on Young & The Restless). We finished the day with shopping, eating at Carmine's and the loooong tiring ride home! It was a great day!
(When I can get the video uploaded, I will try to add it!)

All American Woman 2009 nominated twice for TFTJ "Best of 2008" poll! - January 30, 2009

Hello Everyone,
I am so excited to let you know that I have been nominated for the Turn For The Judges "Best of" poll for 2008. It's all based on votes. If you have the time and can vote, I would appreciate it. There's nothing to sign in and they don't take your name, etcetera. I was nominated twice!

If you would please go to http://www.tftj.com/News/Poll_Vote.htm/195 this page for the evening gown polls and just check the box and submit. Then go to http://www.tftj.com/News/Poll_Vote.htm/183 and check the box and submit. You can only submit once per computer IP address. So if you have more than one computer... ;-)

Feel free to forward this on to anyone you think might take the time to vote! I would appreciate it!
Thanks!
Kimberly
