My Best Friend's Wedding - May 5, 1994

I made the long road trip to Virginia, picked up Arvon and Beth and we continued on to South Carolina where we picked up Ray and then finally landed in Atlanta, Georgia just in time for Holly and Jim's wedding!

This event proves to me once again that while I am a singer, I am definitely not a good wedding singer. I blubbered and flubbed the song I sang for them. It was something by The Beatles. I think I have memory block...

My New Kitty! - December 25, 1993

I had just lost my cat in Virginia. So, when I visited Virginia for Christmas, my best friend brought me a cat from Georgia! A true southern gentleman! He is sooooo adorable! His name is Dinky!

Miss Virginia World - Top 10 - April, 1993

I competed in the Miss Virginia World pageant in April of 1993.
I made the Top 10 and it was definitely a learning experience for me.

I had never competed in that kind of format before.

The irony is, the girl that won had competed with me at Miss Virginia America and didn't make the Top 10 with me. But Yu-Ping Fan excels at this format was going to be a terrific Miss Virginia World. Congratulations to her! (As an aside, her sister is also an avid competitor and was Washington's Jr. Miss and years later, Mrs. United States in 2005 as Dr. Chiann Fan Gibson.)

It was pretty funny though, while we were waiting for the final results and the emcee was signing, I actually sang with him!

Here I am with my Mom and Dad congratulating me after the pageant.

I had a great time and learned a few lessons - make sure you double check everything in your room - my roommate charged things, didn't pay for them and tried to blame me. Ah the lessons learned...

Miss Virginia U.S.O. - Oceana Naval Air Show - September 12, 1992

We were back at Oceana for the big air show!

Having fun out on the flight line!
The Canadians Snowbirds division let us hang out in the heli and dress in their gear!
Afterwards, we headed over to some of the display areas. We had fun clowning around. And then one of us got the bright idea to ask to try these gas masks on. Boy is it creepy! I hope I NEVER have to wear that again!
