That evening, we headed for North Grosvernordale for the 2002 Installation of Officers and Awards Dinner at the Copl. James H. Sylvia, Jr. AMVETS Post 45. Salute to the Military medley - with a little help from our friends!
God Bless The U.S.A.
And we receive this standing salute from our friends (including Papa Frank Rogers to the left) that brought tears to our eyes. Thank you AMVETS!
We were so honored to be asked to participate in the 70th Anniversary Celebration of Organization The Military Order of the Purple Heart at Derby High School in Derby, Connecticut.
Here we are before the show getting ready.
After Mayor Marc Garofalo spoke, Chelsea and Carolyn both got to perform for the audience.
We honor our Veterans by dedicating to them "Wind Beneath Our Wings."
After the show with Miss Teen Connecticut American Coed, the Honorable Mayor of Derby, Marc Garofalo and Meg Barone, Coordinator of the event.
We held our first fundraiser at the Wolcott VFW and lots of friends and family came out to support us. Here we are with Richard Sabrowske and Al Duff of the AMVETS.
Kimberly, Christi and Stacy before the show.
Kimberly, Debbie & Stacy with the Andrew Sister's medley.
Our friend (and fellow D.O.D. overseas performer) Lenny Paquette came out for the day!
The Mayor of Wolcott, Mike DeNegris, also came out to show his support! L-R: Carolyn, Debbie, Stacy, Chelsea, Kimberly, Christy and Sherry.
Kimberly got the starring role of Adelaide in the Seven Angels Theatre production of "Guys and Dolls" in Waterbury, Connecticut. Here she is with the cast. That's her in the 'bride dress' with her hero, Nathan Detroit!
Hey there! It's the cast of "Guys And Dolls" at Seven Angels Theatre! I landed the dream role of a lifetime! I finally got to play ADELAIDE!!!!! That's me in the middle in the "wedding" get up! A Person Could Develop A Cold!
Just a note, the young gal in black and pink directly in front of me is Marissa Follo. She went on to play the lead (Tracy Turnblad) in "Hairspray" on BROADWAY!!!!
Connecticut (still a Virginia gal at heart!), United States
I've been so blessed to have such a wonderful life! It's because of pageants that I even realized my full performance potential. After I became involved in the Miss Virginia America preliminaries, I was encouraged by many to sing. (My first talent was comedy!) I then became part of the Miss VA U.S.O. Troupe. I moved from my home in VA to Connecticut and became a member of the Miss CT U.S.O. Troupe and subsequently, a Liberty Miss. I was blessed to tour 6 times to over 15 countries performing for our Troops. In 2000, another Liberty Miss and I formed The Glory Girls and we've performed for our Veterans ever since. I also act, dance and serve my community and have logged over 7,000 volunteer hours!
Also in 2000, I met my wonderful husband, David; we were married in 2003; and had our first child, Delilah, in 2005. I still enjoy pageants to this day and thank my lucky stars for the doors that they opened! I am constantly updating my websites below, so feel free to keep checking back. (It takes a loooong time to scan all those photos in!)
(P.S.: Everyone says that I'll probably be the oldest pageant queen/U.S.O. performer in the world! I think I'm okay with that!)
