America's Yankee Ms. - Winner, Talent Winner & Fashion Winner - October 31, 1999

On October 31st, I competed for America's Yankee Ms. I won the fashion award , the talent award and I won the title of America's Yankee Ms. Director, Christina Couto, always puts on very nice pageants and I was happy to be a queen of hers once again.

We performed at Frosty's in Kuwait! It was great to be back there! We often jumped up on things - tanks, tables, anything so the people in the back could see! Let's get clapping for the 70's baby!

Our MWR rep. took us out to see the camels. Just look out and make sure they don't spit or bite you!
And then the beach!

And later that evening after our show, we attended a traditional show with our MWR rep. one night. Shortly after this, a sheik sent over one of his men to "offer me a rose and a drink." I said thank you and refused politely because I think he was trying to buy me according to the locals!

Our MWR rep. took us to the local mosque for a guided tour. Because I had such respect for them and the culture, I was given a book of the Holy Q'uran to bring home with me. I was completely humbled and honored.

Yep, that's me on the U.S.S. Ingraham out at sea! They flew us out to the ship in the ocean off of Bahrain and we performed on the ship for the Sailors on duty that couldn't come in for our July 4th show on base.

Imagine trying to sing on a moving ship much less while you're watching the waves! Believe me, there were a few times when we were falling over!

I think the funniest memory of this was that the deck was sooooo hot that our Karacta shoes were melting to the deck!

Here I am getting ready to leave on my way to the helicopter to fly back to Bahrain.

On the way home, the pilots let each of us take a turn at being co-pilot and flying back to base. It was so awesome!
